Character’s Name: Watanuki Kimihiro

Character’s Personality: Watanuki is, in short, a big failget. He’s constantly bossed around by Yuuko, out-done by Doumeki, and chased by spirits who like bothering him. This life of getting owned has made him an extremely touchy person, and he tends to yell and flail at even the slightest challenge to him. He also likes to complain about whatever people tell him to do, especially when Doumeki bothers him for food.
However, he isn’t like that to everyone. He is nice to some people, especially Himawari. He’s head-over-heels in love with Himawari, and he’s always trying to walk home with her after school or spend time with her. Of course, these plans are always ruined by fate (or a certain archery-inclined interloper), thus making Watanuki cry rivers of tears over that lost opportunity.
Also, he’s very nice to people who he doesn’t think are annoyances. He’s been nothing but kind to Kohane, and he’s generally respectful of the people he meets in his life. It seems as though he’s only irritable to those who make his life difficult.
Watanuki also has some issues with getting and losing friends. His parents died when he was very young, and he’s been alone since then. Yuuko was the first ‘mother figure’ to care for him in a long time, and Doumeki and Himawari were his first living friends in…well, forever. He’s still not entirely used to having people who are close to him, though, and he’s adjusting to it.
Finally, Watanuki is very confident in his skills of cooking and cleaning. It’s one of the few times when he gets to show off his ‘mad skills’, so he plays it up when he’s giving food to Yuuko or Doumeki. Around other people he’s modest, though.
Character’s Background: Watanuki has been able to see spirits all of his life. They’ve been less than helpful to him, what with chasing him around and such. Not only that, but they’ve made him somewhat reclusive, since most people see him running away from nothing and just think he’s weird.
One day, though, his usual escape from the tormenting spirits brought him to the home of one Time Witch known as Yuuko. All it took was a short discussion to get Watanuki to work for Yuuko, and since then his life has never been the same. Well, he still spends a lot of time running from spirits. Now he just gets to run from spirits while delivering packages! Yes, his life has changed for the better, clearly.
A lot has happened during his time at Yuuko’s shop. He’s seen several people ruin their lives, some people save their lives, almost die because of a lonely spirit, get saved by Doumeki several times, lose his eye, get a new eye from Doumeki, fall out of a window, find out that the girl he likes is bad luck, save a few souls, meet some interesting people, and get drunk a few times. And that’s just the big events, too.
Recently he has been suffering from narcolepsy, and he’s been seeing Sakura (of Tsubasa fame) in his dreams often. He has no idea what’s going on, but it’s starting to change him. He’s a little worried about it, but he does his best to smile and not let anyone know.
It’s also worth noting that Watanuki has made several friends in the spirit world since he started working for Yuuko.
